about

Every few years, Glaue delivers an unforgettable tune to our imprint; label favorites like “Yours Faithfully” (2019), “Kali” (2017), and “She” (2015) reflect the British talent’s extraordinary talent for visionary melodic progressive house. It is our enormous joy to present Glaue’s most ambitious offering to date, the three-track “Over It” EP.

The release begins in Glaue’s melodic progressive wheelhouse; yet, “Over It” proves to be another unique, innovative take on the genre. In the early going, a stuttering bassline playfully punctuates a variety of rapturous synth themes. At the quarter turn, the titular vocal hook ebulliently enters the fray and adds yet another ecstatic layer to the arrangement. When the main breakdown arrives at the song’s midpoint, it offers just a momentary respite, before unleashing an unabashedly uplifting drop. From start to finish, “Over It” is one of the most joyful, life-affirming productions we have released in recent memory.

As the name implies, “Losing You” finds Glaue in darker, more turbulent waters, but no less mesmerizing. A variety of beautiful, yet ominous melodic motifs emerge on Glaue’s sonic canvas in the early going, as stormy bass swells fill out the low end of the arrangement. In the main break, a gorgeous bell-tinged melody is met by a spell-binding female vocal theme, collectively evoking a phantasmagoric scene. When the groove returns, the vocal drops out, and we are left with a series of poignant instrumental themes, which cut through the aural haze. The concluding minutes stirringly conjure the elusive grasp of our former lovers and friends.

Closing out the “Over It” EP, “VHS” takes explicit inspiration from the cult sci-fi films of Glaue’s childhood. A chunky, eighties-influenced breakbeat groove underpins a variety of electrically charged synth lines; the listener envisions a laboratory experiment that has gone awry, as foreboding pads begin to crescendo and encircle the arrangement. Suddenly, the tone of the arrangement markedly shifts, as ethereal pads and a dynamic new groove insinuate that the song’s protagonist has achieved an epiphany or breakthrough of some kind. As the song comes to a close, the listener is left in a state of awe, on account of the cinematic scope of “VHS,” not to mention its counterparts on the “Over It” EP.
